The dreamscape city of Doha seems to rise from the jade-green waters of the Persian Gulf on side and the endless desert on the
other, a skyscrapers like something out of Flash Gordon… I.M.Pei’ Museum of Islamic Art, the architect’s magisterial evocation of Cairo’s Ahmad Ibn Tulun mosque. The soaring building Is itself an inspiration, with the arches of its fountain-filled courtyards framing perfect
views of the ever-growing city and wast interior atrium as cool and contemplative as an Islamic garden ,while its handsomely
paneled galleries contain treasures to take the breath away:Mughal -palace carpet and Iznik porcelains , the jewels of maharajas
and the scimitars of pashas, mathematicians astrolabes and triumphs of the calligrapher’ s Art.
